Dr Hatfield Has always been extremely passionate about helping his patients in all aspects of their heath. The name “Ethemba”, an African name, has very special meaning for Dr Hatfield, who was born and raised in Southern Africa.
Ethemba means to trust, to believe and to have faith in. For years, Dr Hatfield’s patients have asked him for help in areas where his Family Practice was inadequately set up to fulfill all of their needs. Understanding that these were very real issues, and that patients wanted to see someone that they trusted, Ethemba Health and Image Centre was born. Dr Hatfield feels that there truly is an “Art” and “Science” to achieving a natural, healthy image when it comes to Cosmetic Medicine. Having an “excellent eye for cosmetic medicine” and “the patience to achieve very natural results” has been used to describe Dr Hatfield’s techniques for years. Equally important is an in depth understanding of the facial anatomy and the patient’s overall health – which comes with years of Practical experience. Dr Hatfield possesses all of these qualities and has a very loyal patient following as a result.
Dr Hatfield graduated from the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa in 1994 with his medical degree. After practicing medicine in South Africa for 2 years, he moved to Canada where he established his first Family Practice. He has been practicing family medicine now for over 16 years. His practical experience also includes, Emergency room medicine in Regina Saskatchewan for 5 years, Dermatological Surgical Procedures at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina, Saskatchwan for 8 years, Hair transplant surgery for 9 yrs, Sclerotherapy with advanced training and performance of all Injectable Cosmetic procedures. Dr Hatfield has mentored under the direction of Clinical Professor, Dr Jaggi Rao ath the University of Alberta Hospital for advanced training in Cosmetic Procedures and Acne Management for 6 years. In 2001, Dr Hatfield joined the International Society of Hair Restoration. He trained under Dr B Wolf of Cincinnati, Ohio and Dr A Mangubat of Seattle, Washington, Pioneers and Leaders in Hair Restoration. Dr Hatfield opened his first Hair Restoration and Surgical Centre in Regina Saskatchwen in 2002. He has been very successful in performing Hair Transplants for over 9 years with excellent results.
Dr Hatfield currently practices family Medicine at Jabulani Health Clinic in Sherwood Park Alberta as well as Medical Director for Ethemba Health and Image Centres and Evelyn Charles in South Edmonton Commons. He has been on numerous advisory boards and committees to support the growth and development of family Medicine and is a current member of the Canadian College of Family Physicians. He has been asked to sit on the examination committee as an examiner for current applicants. He is duly licensed to practice medicine and surgery in the Provinces of Saskatchewan and Alberta. In addition to his numerous professional affiliations he is a member of good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of both Saskatchewan and Alberta, the Saskatchewan Medical Association, The Alberta Medical Association, The Canadian Obesity Network, The Canadian Society of Phelobology, The Canadian Society of Aesthetic Medicine, The International Society of Hair Restoration and The International Association for Physicians in Aesthetic Medicine. He is also a member of the Sherwood Park Primary Care Network. He has lectured nationally on topics such as Weight Management, Menopause, Cosmetic Medicine , Hair Restoration, Depression, Asthma Management, Hypertension and Diabetes.
On a personal note, Dr Hatfield is dedicated to healthy living. He enjoys golfing, playing squash and is an avid runner. He regularly runs races with his wife for various charitable organizations including the Leukaemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada, Childhood Obesity, and Diabetes. He is happily married and a proud Father. When he’s not working, he’s busy “running” to keep up with his 5 children and their various extracurricular activities.

I’ve always been extremely passionate about helping patients with every aspect of their heath. I was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa. Living and studying Medicine in a country where resources were scarce has given me an immense appreciation and gratitude to be able to offer my patients state of the art medicine. I come from a country where safe, accessible medicine is rare. To be able to provide the best care possible with a network of highly skilled Health Care Professionals is something I will never take for granted. I opened my first Family Practice over 18 years ago in Canada and called it “Jabulani”, which is an African word that means “Place of Happiness”. I sensed a need for safe, excellent care in the field of Aesthetic Medicine shortly after opening my Family Practice upon my arrival into Canada. More and more my patients began asking for treatments in an area outside of General Practice. Ethemba Health and Image Centres was born with these needs in mind. “Ethemba” is an African word that means “To Trust, believe and have faith in”. Ethemba Health and Image Centres have been designed to give patients a safe and caring environment that addresses all needs in Aesthetic Medicine, weight management and skin health. I believe that Aesthetic Medicine is an “Art” and “Science” when it comes to achieving natural results. Everyone wants to look like the best version of themselves and I make it my daily mission to provide excellent Health care, in a peaceful, happy environment.
